I'm Helen, a chartered physiotherapist with over 25 years' experience helping people stay mobile, comfortable and independent in their own homes and care settings.
I qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Brunel University in 2000. I'm registered with the HCPC (PH59296), a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists for People with Learning Disabilities, and I hold a full DBS check. My career has been almost entirely community-based. Across London, Hertfordshire and Essex I've treated people at home, in day centres, care homes, gyms and hydrotherapy pools. That includes housebound older adults, people with complex neurological conditions, and adults and children with learning disabilities. I've also worked in intermediate care, helping people leave hospital sooner and avoid admission in the first place. Alongside Hampden Healthcare, I work in an NHS community therapy service in West Essex. There I clinically triage referrals, support admission avoidance and safe discharge, manage a small triage team, and act as a subject matter expert for therapy services. It keeps me closely connected to how health and social care work together, and to what helps people stay safely at home. Where I can help • Older adults, frailty, falls prevention and ageing well • Stroke rehabilitation in your own home • Parkinson's disease: rehabilitation after a hospital admission • Multiple sclerosis: maintaining function • Post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation • Learning disabilities, including profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and autism • Postural care and 24-hour postural management, including seating and pressure injury prevention I keep my specialist training current. Recent courses include Bobath approaches to postural control, vestibular rehabilitation, FES for the upper limb, functional neurological disorder, contracture management, and the neurophysiology of gait. I've also completed the Oliver McGowan training in learning disability and autism, and I'm trained in the Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding. I've held senior and lead specialist posts, developed and expanded services, provided clinical supervision, and taught students as a clinical educator. I'm comfortable working with GPs, nurses, OTs, carers and families. I focus on clear communication, careful records and goals that matter to you and the people supporting you. Hampden Healthcare brings that specialist community experience to private patients, in the place where they're most comfortable.Hampden Healthcare brings specialist, hands-on physiotherapy to you, in the place where you're most comfortable.
